Pregnant models seem to be on the boom at the moment. Everywhere I look I see pictures and news of more and more models getting pregnant with their first, second or even fourth child. For that reason I wanted to gather some lowdown on some of the fashion world’s leading ladies for you to feast your eyes and minds on.
Born in 1917 the son of a New Jersey watchmaker, Irving Penn became one of the most prolific and revered photographers of the post war era. His photographs graced countless covers of VOGUE and his work, regardless of the subject, was never less than a piece of art.
This is also why very few models are made Angels. The Angels have had to prove themselves as Victoria’s Secret models before they are given the honour. Normally there will be around six Victoria’s Secret Angels at any time. When an Angel leaves, the company appoints a new one.
What is it about film makers and their fascination with the fashion industry? And I am not referring to who they will choose to design the wardrobes for their film, which these days can mean an immediate interest and an increased chance of box office success if chosen well and with the movie’s target demographic in mind. I am talking about the constant need to satirise, send up and generally poke fun at models, magazine editors and the whole business of presenting and selling clothes to the general public, in new and even more demeaning ways.
Designers have been dressing celebrities for as long as their existence. From Hubert de Givenchy ingeniously outfitting Audrey Hepburn to Armani finding the meaning of extra brand value with Richard Gere, designers have never been shy to exploit what linking fashion to Hollywood could bring them.
