Just the other day you may have noticed an inetresting casting that The Official Modelmanagement.com Casting director posted… “Casting for FashionTV Model Awards at the Cannes Film Festival!”

This month the fun people over at FashionTV are giving you not one but four days of castings that you could attend! Castings will begin on the 20th May and run through until the 24th May. Great News is that Ego’s Models has partnered up with Modelmanagement.com for one of the hottest modeling contests ever: Fresh Faces Benelux 2013! So this week we’ve had a chat with the founder and Director of Ego’s International Model Agency – Peter Burghoudt – who told us more about his agency and what should models expect from the contest. Peter not only is an agency Director and Industry Expert, but he also has many years of experience working as a model and booker so read on to get more of his unique and valuable tips!

Anouk - EGO´S MODELS

Modelmanagement.com: Can you tell us more about EGO’S MODELS and how it all started?

Peter Burghoudt: We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of EGO’S MODELS this year. I started the agency after working as a model, a models booker and photographers agent and casting director for tv-commercials, so I have seen basically all parts of the industry.

MM: Can you tell us more about the Benelux model industry? How does it differ from other European modeling markets?

PB: Amsterdam has a strong position within the Benelux, we are only a few hours drive from Belgium and also close to Paris or other European main cities…

Tim H. - EGO´S MODELS

MM: How do you position your agency in the modeling industry?

PB: Due to the variety of divisions our clients know how to find us, we have almost always the right face in the right place…

MM: EGO’S counts a great variety of models – Do you usually serve many different types of clients?

PB: We work with the high-end editorial magazines and brands, women’s weekly’s and also many, many commercial clients, we also have a strong plus size division, many of our plus size models work world wide.

Tess - EGO´S MODELS

MM: What kind of jobs do models usually book in Benelux?

PB: All kinds of jobs, we are lucky that the Dutch people is a good mixture of looks and races, so they can work all over the Benelux.

Dominique - EGO´S MODELS

MM: This year you have partnered up with Modelmanagement.com for Fresh Faces Benelux 2013, one of the world’s most exciting model contests. Who is the profile you are looking for?

PB: For this contest we are aiming on the high-end fashion models, boys and girls, but we won’t say no to any other great faces fitting our other divisions.

Jozef - EGO´S MODELS

MM: What should models expect from Fresh Faces Benelux 2013? Any particular prizes or sneak peaks you would like to share with us?

PB: We have the live castings on 12 October and on 13 October our final selections, there will be a jury attending from one of Milan top Agencies and probably also from other foreign top Agencies… to be confirmed!

MM: Give us 3 adjectives a model should respond to when applying to Fresh Faces Benelux 2013?

Modelmanagement.com: What gave you the idea to begin K1 Models Agency and how did it develop?

Filip Knesl: I am a co-owner of the advertising and production company called  fproduction agency and our clients’ portfolios also include the fashion brand Kenvelo. Kenvelo is very popular in the Eastern Europe!  As part of our cooperation, in early 2010 we agreed on the establishment of a common modelling agency named the K1 models and also on the organization of the modeling competition named Kenvelo Models Search 2010. It was successfully held in the Kenvelo network of stores in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia and from the castings we found promising talents for the agency and could start devoting ourselves to  model management.

MM:  What makes K1 Models stand out from other agencies?

FK: Mainly the connection with production. We have contracts that other agencies do not. Of course, we devote to each man or woman model individually and strive to manage their modelling career appropriately and effectively.

MM: Tell us about the Modelling profession in the Czech Republic, what is it like for aspiring models?

FK: We have a lot of excellent models in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. This brings  great competition amongst them since the jobs market that is not very interesting in terms of volume of work for the models. Mostly television commercials are shot here, in which, unfortunately, actors and people from the casting databases will have more chance at securing than professional models. Therefore, we focus a lot on the model placement in professional modelling agencies in markets where there is more work for the models. The global competition is even bigger, so we need high quality models.

MM: What requirements does a person need to meet to become a model with K1?

FK: The requirements are the same as in other professional modelling agencies, i.e. a suitable height – it’s best to be  over 173 cm for girls and over 182 cm for men, a symmetrical figure with good measurements, beautiful face, healthy hair and teeth, photogenic appearance and also what makes the models good fashion models – i.e. the positive energy, reliability and diligence.

MM: Do you ever use Social Media sites to scout for new models?

FK: So far not too much, but we will be focussing more on  social media in the future.

MM: You’ve teamed up with us at Modelmanagement.com to bring the Fresh Faces modelling competition 2013 to the Czech Republic, what kind of pictures should the models use to grab your attention?

FK: For us it is best to see what potential the model has, i want to see if he/she has only one expression or if they are capable of many expressions and if they is photogenic. If the model has professional photos we definitely want to see them but  we are equally interested in snaps without make-up or retouching. We like when we can see a swimsuit shot and clear face shots from the front and from the side so that we know exactly what the model is like. The photos should show a serious expression, but also a smile to see the teeth. All this means that if we invite someone to the casting we know exactly who we are seeing because if we  find that the reality is quite different then it ends up being unnecessary loss of time for both sides.

ModelManagement: Can you tell us more about your background?

Ludovic Courcelle: Hello, my name is Ludovic Courcelle, 26 years old and from Paris. Since my youth, I’ve always been interested in photography. I started to take my first pictures of objects of all kinds, landscapes, even my family with an old Pentax which belonged to my parents. After that, I went to work and put my passion aside. but soon after I quit my job and put photography at the center of my career.

MM: When did you decide to become an event photographer and why?

LC: In the beginning, while I was working, I wanted to go out, have fun and put my passion to work. Today, nothing has changed. I like to capture the significant moments people experience. Whether they are in a seminar or an evening event, it’s always nice for people to have footages. Some like to film events, I photograph them -these photos can be for anything. I like to feel useful. A photo may be used both for communication from a past event that is repeated, or for customers who desire to have a souvenir of an important fact of their life.

Now, I would like especially to break into fashion, dealing with models, and working with the greatest. I’m quite ambitious in a hard world, but I’ll eventually get there!

MM: What cities most inspire you for your works?

LC:I do not really care about the places I go. Everything depends on how I feel. Some photographers will quote Paris, Marseilles, Venice and others -I don’t.Where I live can be a source of inspiration. Where I work too. It’s obvious that there are mystical places that can make you dream. To be able to block the Champs Élysées for a shooting at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe would be nice. I try to look up wherever I go and imagine a shooting in this place with a specific theme.MM: Photographers normally tend to prefer shooting professional models. What motivated you to shoot aspiring models instead?

LC: This is my teaching and social side that takes over. I like to accompany models, advise and teach them the profession. Too many people say they are pros when they do not have the necessary material… These unscrupulous people could take away a few gems that we could shape so that they can sparkle.

I wish I could bring my expertise to a motivated person who wishes to learn. I myself have always been eager to learn.

MM: What do you like most about shooting aspiring models?

LC: The special relationship that we can have. The fact that she is listening. I am always careful to protect a model’s debut by not teaching things that can destroy the beginning of a modeling career.

MM: In what way do you make aspiring models feel comfortable during your shoots? is it challenging for them to pose in front of your camera?

LC: I always put the model at ease with my camera. There is no point in taking a picture if the model is not at ease to start with. This is how I do it, step by step: make contacts first, call the model, greet her and meet for a coffee, sign a contract, do the photo shoot. I Facebook and SMS a lot to stay in touch. It’s essential to me that she feels privileged and that she sees that I do not give up. I always stay tuned.

MM: What tips do you give to aspiring models who want to start their modeling careers?

LC: Many models want to get paid and live their passion immediately. If they could do so it would be so easy, but unfortunately it isn’t really the case. I try to demonstrate them the fact that they have to work, to allow them to get closer to their goal. Being beautiful doesn’t mean you will become number 1 only by posing infront of the camera. I give them advice on their books. I also do a lot of research to provide the best guidance. I believe that I give a lot.

MM: Modelmanagement.com is proven to be a great tool for photographers when it comes to looking for aspiring models to shoot. What is your current experience?

LC: For now, I discover and I observe. I already have a few fans that follow my work. I would like to increase the sightseeing and work with models that would become the exceptions of tomorrow. I will certainly use the website to find future collaboration with models even more!

The Model Hunter competition is a very cool contest created by Modelmanagement.com, where the idea is to reward and motivate people that can recognize model beauty!

Modelhunter is a way for you to let us know how good you are at spotting model potential. You can enter the ModelHunter contest by clicking here, but there was also some model hunting of our own that took place when our ModelManagementTV crew shot the video for this new contest.

The video Director was on the look out for great looking models from Barcelona, which was the chosen location for the cool video promo. Take a look at the video below:

The Director  Anna, who is also a model, knew exactly the type of cast she wanted. She explained: “They must be fresh, young and not realise that they have the potential to model until one of our modelhunter’s approaches!”

The two cool aspiring models who were chosen were Narine Kagramanyan and Antonio Imedio. For the Model Hunters, Anna wanted models who were very self confident and knew what they wanted!  She found that in models George Cosmin Marin and Cynthia Corona. All these models were highly professional and showed true talent as they acted perfectly their roles (acting is often a very useful part of any models repertoire).

The Model Hunter video was shot on a chilly, but sunny morning on the famous Las Ramblas, one of the central streets of Barcelona city. What seemed to be a normal shoot day in Barcelona, turned out to be quite an exciting day in Barcelona as even passers by wanted to appear in the video. The model’s were turning heads as it seemed to be that everyone wanted to start model hunting!

After a great day of shooting the Model Hunter video, these versatile  models got some time to relax and they spent the rest of the afternoon together enjoying the city.

The Fashion World and its influence is growing in Croatia everyday and with the help of sites like Novalica.com there’s no chance of it slowing down!

If you are outside of Croatia there’s a chance you have no idea about this fashion filled website and their blog, newfaces [Mag]. This is why you have us at Modelmanagement.com, we will keep you up to date with the cool stuff!

So Novalica is the biggest-  former Yugoslavia – fashion community and they have recently joined forces with us and became OFFICIAL Modelmanagement.com Brand Ambassadors!

The clever folk over at Novalica selected some talented individuals to come together to create their April editorial, “BALLOON MADNESS“  in order to mark the occassion!

As you can guess there were a lot of balloons!  The shoot was held in the spacious Alfa Film Studio near Zagreb, Croatia. A perfect space to hold 500 balloons, aren’t you glad you weren’t the one to had to blow them all up?!

Now you’d expect me to tell you who shot the shoot well Novalica don’t do things by halves.

They had not one but six talented photographers, Martina Hohnjec, Irina Rinkovec, Mario Župančić, Bojan Zibar, Denis Butorac and Ilija Božić who worked together to make sure the event was well documented!

They were joined by Lidija Palić and Bruno Šakota, who took care of the make up. Dinko Straka, Ana-Marija Hota and Carla Crue who styled hair to be jealous of and  Ivana Opačak who made  sure those nails were just perfect for photos, its all about attention to detail!

With such a filled background and foreground for that matter! The photoshoot needed clothing that would stand out aswell as models that we’re unmissable! The fantastic models chosen for this opportunity were Croatian models  Anamarija Stišćak, Josipa Bračanov, Mina Seferović, Matea Sušac and Ines Rabatić and they rocked the bright designs of  designer  Zoran Aragović ( BiteMyStyle.)

We managed to interupt a really busy Ivan Zebić, the Project Founder  to get a few words from him about the event. Here is what he had to say,

“Keeping in mind the vision of the project Novalica.com, we decided to organize a unique event to celebrate cooperation with modelmanagement.com, and to introduce this project to our members. Beside this we wanted to give them new ideas,  opportunites and maybe the most important thing inspiration to become better!”

This pair of stunning German twins were recently photographed by Yuma Migliaccio for an editorial in the well known Grazia Italy magazine!

With their bright blue eyes and white blonde hair its no wonder these boys are popular! Jochen and Jorg are both represented by Elite Milano and have been photographed by both Philipp Jelenska and Michael Brus!
