More PROVOCATEUR than ever: Joe Corre’s A CHILD OF THE JAGO

The legend that is Joe Corre - co-founder of the sexiest lingerie in the world also known as Agent Provocateur, yup the people who gave us Kylie riding in suspenders among other unforgetable little presents – is now hotter than ever.

After officially quitting Agent Provocateur last October, he has been busy working on the new menswear line called A Child of The Jago which he co-founded back in 2007 with pal Simon “Barnzley” Armitage.

The pair of fashion mavericks with the most amazing sense of style had for many years been making clothes for themselves, using end of line line luxury wools cashmeres and cottons, playing dress up and showing off to each other, until they decided to join forces and open a small store in London’s east end, within walking distance of the local tailors shops.

Their clothing line and style is inspired by Arthur Morrison’s book A Child Of The Jago:

A Child of the Jago

A Child of the Jago

“In Joseph Corre and Simon “Barnzley” Armitage’s version, the street is Great Eastern and the physical environment is a former Victorian slum in East London, where the alley wise hero of Arthur Morrison’s book, A Child of the Jago takes place. But the spiritual environment that has catalyzed Corre and Armitage’s enterprise is an even more threatening and sprawling slum, that of the creatively impoverished and commercially corrupt homogeny represented by the menswear status quo”.

A Child of the Jago

A Child of the Jago is a child of the street, the destitute and illegitimate progeny of a hopelessly rundown environment. Corre and Armitage are acutely aware that the world their new child is entering will offer it no sympathy and give it no quarter. A Child of the Jago isn’t being raised to expect a warm welcome. It’s being brought up to cause trouble while it contrives to raises the bar.”

With a menswear collection as uber-stylish and cool as this, you guys out there have absolutely no excuses now and if you can’t afford it, you can always look at it for inspiration to create your very own look. Oh how I wish I was a guy too!

I am not even mentioning that Joe Corre also happens to be the son of no other than Dame Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren (yup the manager of the Sex Pistols) because you all know that right?

This is another example of the new business trending that claims that “small is the new big”.

If you are in London, this fabulous store is a must see:
