The polemic view at the Dior show

The polemic view at the Dior show

The latest gossip in fashion town has been whether or not one of our favourite fashion bloggers – little miss Tavi -was totally inappropriate to have worn this fabuloso feather bow hat, given to her by the mad hatter himself, Mr Stephen Jones, during her visit to the Dior Atelier, where she and her dad met the hatter on the day prior to the show.

Stephen Jones had made the hat as a sample for one of the Dior shows of previous seasons and the hat ended up never being used. Non surprisingly, the gold hearted hatter was charmed by Tavi, so he gave her the hat and Tavi, being her fashionable little self, thought it seemed completely appropriate to wear the hat to the Dior show the next day. After all the hat was also Dior, non?

Some bitter comments could be heard accusing Tavi’s ensemble of being “too show-offy”, (eerrr hello??? It’s a fashion show?) followed by even more bitter and even more hilarious complaints calling it “childish” or “obnoxious”. Tavi’s reply: “to some other people, it would be a bad thing if I DIDN’T dress childishly!” (Let’s not forget that Tavi is 13 years old)

But it wasn’t only its “appearance” what seemed to have ruffled the already ruffled feathers
of a certain Grazia magazine editor, who was in the vicinity, rubbing elbows with Tavi at the
Dior show, but it’s size. Apparently, the editor was heard complaining that “there should be no problems seeing the clothes” and started a world fashion frenzy over at tweetyland, after her
tweet complaint spread like a virus.

This is what Tavi says on her defense in her blog: (you can’t help but love her)

“Apparently my hat was very upsetting to some people! – I had no intentions of blocking the views of people behind me but it didn’t block any views-I’m SHORT, so watching the show behind me would be like watching it through a regular-sized adult, but better, because adult heads do not have holes in them. Other than the Stinky Cheese Man, from that one book, from like, second grade, or something.”

I can hear Isabella Blow cracking herself laughing from her grave.

All I can say is: if that hat is a problem, then that is a problem that I wish I had! and I couldn’t agree more with what Elizabeth from the White Lightning blog says: (I couldn’t have said it better myself!)

‘REALNESS CORNER: IF STEPHEN JONES GIFTS YOU A MOTHERFUCKIN HAT, YOU WEAR THAT SHIT! Trues n fax. C’mon now.’

IF YA GONNA BE FRONT ROW, BEEEE FRONNNTT ROWWWWWW.

And later her comparison with what Gaga wore to the Grammys, stealing Tavi’s crown on best view blocking outfit.

Well done to Tavi for enduring the criticisms with such decorum and composture, it’s a tough industry and a tough world out there, where only the best survive.

Now from the future queen of the front row, to the current queen of the front row: Anna Wintour. Anna was recently reunited with Carine Roitfeld and the French Industry Minister Christian Estrosi, in a meeting to discuss the future of French fashion and what the French government can do to help the (struggling) fashion industry.

She addresesses the point that France needs to support its young talent, their emerging young new fashion designers, in the same way that New York, Italy and London do. You can’t help but love and admire Anna’s work and the way she tells it how it is:

French Journalist: How important is it to you to support young American designers?
Anna Wintour: It’s totally important for all of us in the American Fashion Industry
to support the young designers. I think that is why New York has become such a vibrant fashion
centre, because people don’t just go there to see the Donna Karan’s of this world but a whole new
generation. I am just so sorry that there isn’t something like this in Paris that is similar. I think that
they should look for the younger generation here as well.

French journalist: I totally agree with you, I am a bit sad for Paris at the moment because I think in New York there is something fresh…..(interrupted by Anna)
Anna Wintour: Not only in New York, but London I think really supports their young talent and Franca Sozzani at Italian Vogue supports the young Italian Designers and I think when France is so known for its fashion industry, for them to not be reaching out to help younger people today I think it is a shame.

French Journalist: and there is space in your pages for them…(interrupted again by Anna) AW: There is space in everybody’s pages.

Well said Anna. Now here is the video:

You can read the full article about Anna’s meeting in France over at Bryanboy’s blog by clicking HERE if you are really interested, otherwise, this pic, courtesy of BB, sums it all up pretty well:

As a word press web master yourself, do u perhaps know where i could find tutorials to be able to do this? Thanks Alot!
