Alejandra Andreu (middle) - Miss International

One thing that has changed my life and my perception of it is the experience of standing for beauty contests. I have taken part in both Miss Spain and in Miss International contests. During one month or maybe one month and a half you discover and learn so many things such as: how to be independent, getting to know different countries, ways of life and different cultures, living with people who have different customs and habits, simply meeting new people.

The common word is “Different” and that is true as you aren’t at your home and in your city or country. To be far from your parents, friends….is difficult but sometimes it is good to live that feeling…especially when you arrive home and are greeted with kisses and smiles by everyone.

I have a good memory of those times and I am very proud of that, because many girls didn’t have such a good time in those contests and they wanted to go home before the end of them.

One thing that you have to be particularly careful with is the signing of contracts. I mean any contract, not only the Miss contracts. You have to read them slowly and with great attention – all the papers and all the words, including the small print. Be aware that when you sign a contract with these organizations, you could be signing away your rights to be represented by a model agency for a period of time. (This is my advice)
